The Southern Maine FC Philosophy
SMFC is designed by educators and coaches who believe in patient, purposeful, professional coaching that embraces our Southern Maine community soccer traditions.
Our club will offer a January through July programs beginning with u5 and up through u14. We will utilize the endless benefits of futsal, design mesocycles intended to prevent "burnout" and "overuse injuries" to prepare players for outdoor spring play, and provide programs throughout the summer to have you at peak performance for the fall.

How We Coach and How We Play
PLAYING VARIOUS POSITIONS "THE DUTCH MODEL"
It is our belief that players should not be pigeon holed in to "their best position" until U13/14. We want to ensure that players are becoming well rounded players and have an opportunity to truly show what their best position is and not just where they are athletically successful.
PLAYING OUT OF THE BACK
It is required that all teams play out of the back to ensure possession of the ball. We want our players to become comfortable on the ball no matter where they are on the field and be able to make decisions and consistently play with a purpose.
